Shobha Ramu Shivaiah is an engineering leader with - 2 decades of experience; a Masters in Computer Science and a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering. At Amazon she is heading the Engineering Charter for Trust & Safety, Privacy service and Business Automation & Influence for Amp to create products, processes and systems that protect users and enable businesses for Amp while solving some of the toughest challenges on the audio platform that is streaming high fidelity music and interactive live conversations. At Microsoft, Shobha was responsible for management and technical leadership of the architecture and engineering of many vertical development efforts within Azure compute - mainly focusing on reliability across Azure core components and features for VDI customers fueled by AI/ML. Previously at UPS as a Director, Shobha owned/headed a development department of 51 members (UPS ESolutions Department). She was responsible for the development of a key strategic initiative for UPS - Smart Basket. In addition she was responsible for the development teams in the development of enterprise applications such as, European Shipping Platform for Small Business, Batch Visibility Application, Subscription Retrieval System, Account Based Rating Component, MyChoice Component. As an ADM at UPS, she previously led and managed several teams simultaneously such as - Smart Basket Team & ESBS team; UPS API team, GEC/LAA/UDKC team, and Gemini/MyFreight team which comprised of ICs, Management leads and GD Managers. In her early ADM years, she was responsible for a large UPS API team (28 members) in the development, testing and support of all customer facing UPS APIs and internal APIs. She was an active contributor to the UPS API standards and played a key role in defining strategies and roadmaps for the APIs. She was key in writing the core frameworks when the APIs were originally written. Under her leadership, the UPS API suite grew to over 100 distinct functional APIs with a daily volume of about half a billion transactions a day in 2019 (a 200% volume growth). At Microsoft, she started the Women At Microsoft Atlanta Chapter and chaired a committee of 10 board members. At UPS, she was the co-chair for the 2019 & 2020 UPS WLD Business Connections group. She was the brain child behind the first Girls Coding Workshop at UPS, Microsoft and Amazon. She was a volunteer teacher for AP Comp Sci at the Dekalb County High School; a WIT mentor for high school girls. She was a featured speaker in several API conferences in 2019.
